Navan is a corporate travel and expense management platform that covers travel booking, spend, and travel policy.

Agen.co connects to Navan through Navan's own hosted MCP server as an Official connector. Each user signs in with their own Navan account and approves access. There is no OAuth client ID or secret to create, and nothing to register on the Navan side.

Prerequisites

  • A Navan account for each person whose agents will use the connector. Any Navan user can connect, and the data they can reach depends on their Navan role.
  • If your company signs in to Navan with SSO, a Navan admin must first enable MCP under Configuration → Integrations before users can connect.

Connect Navan in Agen.co

  1. In the Agen.co portal, go to Connectors → My connectors and click Add connector.
  2. In the Select connector drawer, search for Navan and select it. The Add Navan panel opens.
  3. Fill in the field:
FieldRequiredDescription
Instance SlugYesNamespaces this instance — it prefixes each imported tool as slug__tool, so several instances of the same MCP can coexist. Prefilled with navan. Use lowercase kebab-case. You can change it later from the connector's settings.
  1. Click Connect. Navan opens in a new tab, and the panel shows Waiting for authorization — complete it in the opened tab…
  2. Sign in to Navan with your own account and approve access.
  3. Back in Agen.co, the panel switches to Select the tools to import from Navan. Every tool is toggled on; turn off any you don't want to import, then click Add.

The connector is created and its tools imported only when you click Add. If you close the panel before that, nothing is saved, even if the Navan tab reported success.

What it covers

Navan's MCP server is read-only. Agents can query spend, transaction, and travel policy data, but they cannot create, approve, or change anything in Navan. Every call runs as the signed-in user, with the permissions Navan already grants them:

Navan roleWhat the agent can see
EmployeeTheir own transactions, receipts, and policies
ManagerTheir direct reports' transactions and reports
ApproverThe transactions assigned to them
Finance AdminAll transactions in their entity

Navan has said that write tools, such as approving out-of-pocket expenses and updating travel policies, are planned for later. The tool selection screen after Connect shows exactly what your account serves, because Navan's server needs a signed-in session to list its tools.

Enabling the Navan connector isn't enough on its own. Tool calls remain denied until you create a policy that grants access to the specific tools you want to expose.
