Apollo is a sales intelligence and engagement platform for finding, enriching, and reaching out to contacts and companies, with built-in email sequences, calling, and deal tracking.
Agen.co connects to Apollo through Apollo's own hosted MCP server as an Official connector. Each user authorizes with their own Apollo account, and agents get the access that account already has in Apollo.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites
- An Apollo account. Free accounts registered with a personal email address can't use people or company search and enrichment, retrieve full people or company records, match contacts, or add people to prospect lists — these need an account on a plan that includes them.
- A sufficient Apollo credit balance for enrichment calls. Company search, company enrichment, people enrichment, and reading company job postings all draw from the account's credits, whether called one at a time or in bulk. Every other tool — contact and account CRUD, sequences, tasks, calls, and analytics — doesn't use credits.
Adding contacts to a sequence can send real email
Adding contacts to a sequence can send real email
Adding a contact to an active Apollo sequence can trigger that sequence's outbound emails automatically, the same as doing it from the Apollo UI. Scope the policy for this connector carefully if your agents shouldn't be able to start outreach on their own.
Use a short Instance Slug — the default fails
Use a short Instance Slug — the default fails
Each imported tool is named slug__tool, capped at 64 characters total, and Apollo's longest tool name is 59 characters. That leaves room for a slug of at most 3 characters plus the double underscore, so the panel's prefilled slug (apollo, 6 characters) fails to import. Use a short slug such as ap instead.
In the Agen.co portal, go to Connectors → My connectors and click Add connector.
In the Select connector drawer, search for
Apolloand select it. The Add Apollo panel opens.Fill in the field:
Field Required Description Instance Slug Yes Prefixes each imported tool as slug__tool, so several instances of the connector can coexist. Prefilled withapollo, but that's too long to fit Apollo's longest tool name under the 64-character cap — replace it with something 3 characters or shorter, such asap. Use lowercase kebab-case. You can change it later from the connector's settings.Click Connect. Apollo opens in a new tab, and the panel shows Waiting for authorization — complete it in the opened tab…
Sign in to Apollo if prompted, then approve the requested access.
Back in Agen.co, the panel switches to Select the tools to import from Apollo. Every tool is toggled on; turn off any you don't want to import, then click Add.
The connector is created and its tools imported only when you click Add. If you close the panel before that, nothing is saved, even though the Apollo tab reported success.
Adding the connector doesn't authorize anyone's tool calls yet. The first time each user's agent calls an Apollo tool, the call returns an authorization link instead of a result. The user opens the link and approves the same way. After that, the user's tool calls run with their own Apollo account and permissions — including that account's own credit balance and whatever Apollo plan and workspace role it has.
Once connected, Apollo appears under My connectors with 98 tools spanning:
| Area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Search and enrichment | Searching and enriching people and companies, one at a time or in bulk, and reading a company's job postings — all credit-consuming |
| Contacts and accounts | Creating, updating, and searching contacts and accounts, including bulk contact and account creation |
| Sequences and outreach | Searching, creating, updating, and approving email sequences; adding or removing contacts from a sequence; searching, creating, and sending sequence messages; and reading campaign activity and email send status |
| Deals | Reading and creating opportunities |
| Tasks | Creating and listing tasks |
| Calls | Creating, updating, and searching logged phone calls, and reading conversation-intelligence analysis of calls |
| Custom objects and fields | Reading and writing custom objects, and creating and listing custom fields |
| Lists and tags | Creating and updating lists, adding or removing entities, and listing tags |
| Website visitors | Reading tracked website visitors, and managing the visitor domain tracker |
| Account and usage | Reading the connected user's profile, listing workspace users, and reading API and credit usage stats |
| Domains and email accounts | Browsing or purchasing sending domains and email accounts, and checking domain authentication status |
Enabling the Apollo connector isn't enough on its own. Tool calls remain denied until you create a policy that grants access to the specific tools you want to expose.
